Technical Visit to Sembcorp Tengeh Floating Solar Farm

Hosted by IET Singapore Network

About

IET Singapore Network is organising a technical visit to Sembcorp Tengeh Floating Solar Farm. A chartered bus will take us from Singapore Polytechnic Graduates’ Guild to Sembcorp Floating Solar Farm at Tengeh Reservoir.

Embark on a solar-powered boat tour around Singapore’s first inland floating solar farm – the Sembcorp Tengeh Floating Solar Farm. With over 122,000 floating solar panels spanning 45 hectares, this 60MWp solar farm is a significant stride towards contributing to the nation’s solar energy deployment by 2025. Learn how PUB, Singapore's National Water Agency, leverages solar energy to produce each drop of clean tap water sustainably, making Singapore one of the few countries in the world to have a 100 per cent green waterworks system.

The electricity generated from the solar farm can power about 16,000 four-room HDB flats, equivalent to reducing carbon emissions by about 32 kilotonnes a year or taking 7,000 cars off the roads. The Sembcorp Tengeh Floating Solar Farm was also carefully designed to minimise impact on the reservoir’s water quality, flora and fauna. This immersive experience promises unparalleled insights into the harmonious blend of innovation and environmental responsibility.
