Technical Visit to the CUHK Robotics Laboratories
Organized by Informatics & Control Technologies Section of the IET Hong Kong
About
The event will be hosted by Prof. Lau, who will personally guide participants through his own laboratory and also recommend other relevant robotics laboratories within the University, thereby offering a comprehensive overview of CUHK's diverse research portfolio. CUHK's robotics endeavours are anchored by the T Stone Robotics Institute, established in 2015, which focuses on three core areas: construction robotics, logistics robotics, and medical robotics. The Institute has secured over HKD 140 million in research grants and collaborates extensively with local and mainland institutions.
During the visit, participants will be introduced to a range of cutting-edge robotic applications across these domains, including, but not limited to, surgical assistance systems, bioinspired agile locomotion robots, cable‑driven construction robots for tasks such as drilling, cleaning, inspection, heavy‑load manipulation, brick laying, and concrete 3D printing, as well as wearable exoskeletons and miniature robots for biomedical applications.
The actual exhibits may vary depending on the laboratories' current research focus and availability at the time of the visit. Through direct engagement with researchers and live demonstrations, this technical visit aims to foster knowledge exchange between academia and industry, inspire innovation among engineering professionals.
