The Antikythera mechanism is an Ancient Greek hand-powered model of the Solar System described as the oldest known example of an analogue computer used to predict astronomical positions and eclipses decades in advance.
Steve Phillips will describe its use and also has a working model.

Steve has a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Sheffield University and a Chartered Engineer (CEng MIET). He started his career with the Ministry of Defence working on gas turbines, and then main battle tanks at the Ordnance Factory in Leeds.
Steve then moved into electronics working initially on computers, then on automatic test equipment, and for nearly 30 years on electronic controllers for diesel engines running a business designing and making 250k controllers a year.
He has always made things at home but in 2015 Steve made his first Orrey, and since then has made 10 or more clocks and orreries including the 2016 model of the Antikythera Mechanism.
