The Climate: Crisis?....What Crisis?
About
Hardly a day goes by without a report in the media about something happening that is made worse because of climate change. Even King Charles believes that our planet is potentially doomed. There is frequent reference to the climate crisis. But what precisely constitutes a crisis and is the climate suffering one?
In this talk, Richard Baker presents evidence to suggests that, whilst the planet is undeniably getting warmer with consequential increased rainfall, maybe this isn’t a crisis. Are more people dying? Are we suffering more disease, or are we unable to farm enough food? Are we worse off financially? Data from the United Nations Climate Change panel and from other sources such as the UK Met Office informs this talk, and the conclusions that will be reached. Richard will then go on to examine the UK’s climate and show why we shouldn’t be too pessimistic. The key witness for the prosecution will be completely discredited by history, and the startling truth about the impact of net zero on our weather, our planet’s resources, and our finances will be examined.
The talk aims to highlight some stark facts about our planet, our lifestyle, and what we really ought to be thinking about if we are, in the IET’s words, “to engineer a better future”. Come and listen – the facts just might surprise you and could even change your mind about the climate crisis!
