The M25 Junction 10 (A3) Project – the story behind the traffic cones

Reducing congestion and providing safer journeys for thousands every day.

About

The M25 junction 10 and A3 Wisley interchange is the busiest section of the M25, with over 300,000 vehicles travelling through it every day. Journeys that include commuters, businesses, those visiting local attractions and holidaymakers.

The junction is located among some rare and beautiful habitats, including the heathland at Wisley and Ockham Commons, and implementation of this project has had to be carried out without major disruption to key arterial routes in a way that is sensitive to significant environmental concerns.

Reasons to attend

This lecture will provide insight into:

  • the many years of planning and consultation that has to go into a major highways project before a single shovel hits the ground
  • project management and the importance of a “single source of truth” readily available to key workers
  • how critical environmental concerns have been dealt with including construction of the UK’s first heathland green bridge that will reconnect the commons either side of the A3, and provide a natural and safe corridor for wildlife.
  • how this major project has had to be implemented with minimal disruption to heavy traffic flows on the M25 and A3
