About

Time is of critical importance to many sectors, including every aspect of media. DAB distribution uses GPS to keep the transmitters synchronised as a single frequency network across the UK. Media Streaming relies on time-stamps to manage access rights and deliver the packets in the correct order. Media can also be used to distribute time references. This ecosystem is evolving rapidly in response to technology developments and to threats such as the jamming of GPS. The two speakers will explain the various ways in which time is used across multiple sectors, with a focus on media. There will also be discussion of the ways in which broadcast can itself distribute an accurate time reference.
