Visit to Manchester Town Hall
Organised by Manchester Retired Members Section
About
This is a rare opportunity to look behind the hoardings and discover what has been going on. The £525 million Our Town Hall project is the largest and most complex heritage restoration project in modern UK history. The project has involved, not only preservation and renovation of the 19th century building craftsmanship, artifacts and decoration, it has also been upgraded so that it can serve the city for at least another century.
Structural remediation: the original 1870’s builders left behind some interesting anomalies.
Infrastructure Modernisation: to make the Grade 1 listed, Victorian build fit for the 21st century.
