Professor Roy Kennedy

Head of Department Higher Education (Research and Innovation) - Pershore College

Roy Kennedy has 25 years’ experience researching horticultural and arable crop pathogens. He commissioned and operates 3D Vertical Growing Systems and Agri Tech Technologies used for the development of indoor farming for a range of horticultural crops.  
He has published research on spoilage organisms/mycotoxins in stored grain, root rots (Phytophthora cryptogea) infecting tomato crops and airborne fungi affecting vegetables, edible protected crops and outdoor flower crops. His research has focused on the molecular epidemiology and ecology of crop pathogen populations primarily the development of mathematical models describing their development in crops. Recent research funded by Innovate UK has focused on the development of pathogen detection systems for strawberry spoilage organisms and potato blight.
