Jan16Building quantum computers for disruptive industry applications
Making use of strange quantum phenomena, such as superposition and entanglement (referred to by Einstein as spooky), it is possibly to build computers that can solve industry problems, that would require millions of years of computing time on even the fastest supercomputer. Winfried will report on a recent achievement that enables the construction of quantum computers with millions of quantum bits

Jan18SuperSharp: unfolding, self-aligning space telescopes for high resolution images
In this talk Dr George Hawker, CTO of Supersharp will explain how they are developing technology that fits a 4x larger telescope in a given satellite volume using robotic deployment and novel autonomous alignment techniques that automatically and continuously position the telescope optics accurately to better than 100th the width of a human hair. He will also talk about use cases and their road map to orbit.

Jan18Living On The Moon, Off The Moon (Barrow in Furness)
As space exploration advances, the ability to utilise local resources becomes increasingly important. Transporting materials from Earth to the Moon is incredibly expensive, making it crucial for future lunar inhabitants to rely on locally sourced materials rather than on resupply missions from Earth. Fortunately, the Moon offers a wide range of resources, however determining how best to extract and use them presents a unique challenge. In this talk, we will explore potential solutions for utilising lunar resources in the near future.

Jan24Cyber Security on Railways
Operational Technology (OT) is core to society. We use it in power generation and distribution, ensuring clean and safe water supplies, moving goods across the country and many of us travel on infrastructure which heavily relies on these systems. A cyber-attack against any one of these systems can have devastating consequences to society. Securing these systems and environments sounds difficult, but it can be achieved.
