About
Becoming a Chartered Engineer (CEng) is a significant milestone in an engineer’s professional journey, symbolising recognised competence, technical excellence, and commitment to ethical standards. This internationally respected title enhances both credibility and career progression across the engineering sector.
To support the growing interest among students and early- to mid-career engineers in professional registration, the IET Career and Professionalism Congress will focus on chartership pathways and long-term career planning. The event is designed to provide practical guidance and strategic insights for those aspiring to achieve professional recognition.
A key feature of the congress will be a presentation by an International Professional Registration Advisor from the IET. The advisor will offer first-hand knowledge on the requirements, procedures, and benefits of obtaining professional registration, with a particular emphasis on the Chartered Engineer (CEng) title. Topics will include the various levels of registration, available pathways—such as academic qualifications, workplace experience, and Continuing Professional Development (CPD)—and the role of professional ethics and standards.
