Technical Visit to DHL Central Asia Hub

DHL established its Central Asia Hub (CAH), one of three global hubs for DHL, in Hong Kong in 2004. Due to high annual growth in shipping volume, DHL expended its CAH by equipping with advanced material handling system (MHS) in which the annual throughput of the expended CAH goes up by 50% to 1.06 million tonnes per annum. The expended CAH grand opening was conducted in Nov 2023. This visit has a chance for participants to under the design principle and management strategy of MHS. Moreover, the participants can have some idea for keeping high-quality and sustainable development of Hong Kong’s logistics industry.

Technical Report Writing

The aim of this course is to enable participants to write effective technical reports. These reports play an important part in the life of many professional people: they are a link between writer, colleagues and clients worldwide. Reading and writing reports occupies a considerable proportion of working time, particularly for senior staff. Yet many professionals (including those in engineering and technology) lack confidence in their report-writing skills and feel that their credibility suffers because their reports are not a fair reflection of their expertise.

Pathways to the Decarbonisation of Aviation

It is presently difficult to see how aviation will become completely de-carbonised on any sort of near-term timescale. However and as is often the case in engineering, there are likely to be a progression of small technology steps forward which will eventually realise a valuable overall benefit.
