Tech Talk 2: The Journey towards Chartered Engineer by the Engineering Council (UK) through the Institution of Engineering and Technology (UK)
Speaker: EUR ING. Ir. Victor Nagesparan. A
Chartered Engineer and Assistant Professor, UCSI University

Abstract: Presented by EUR ING. Ir. Victor Nagesparan, this interactive workshop guides engineering professionals in achieving internationally recognised Chartered Engineer (CEng) registration with the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET). The session explores the distinct qualification categories for a Chartered Engineer, assessed under the UK-SPEC 4.0 framework. Participants will learn how to map their technical expertise, leadership, and commitment to safety against the five core UK-SPEC competence benchmarks, A through E.
The speaker provides practical advice on documenting Initial Professional Development (IPD), compiling evidence, and submitting a verified online application. Attendees will also gain strategic insight into preparing for the 45-to-60-minute Professional Review Interview, including how to structure a 15-minute project presentation.
Ultimately, this workshop equips engineers to validate their practical capabilities, enhance their career prospects, and secure global professional credentials.
