Technical Exchange Lectures in Malacca hosted by IET Singapore Network
About
Presentation 1: Remote Sensing, AI and Precision Agriculture
Synopsis:
This talk introduces what is Remote Sensing and Precision Agriculture, and explores how the integration of remote sensing technologies and artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming the future of agriculture. By leveraging satellite, airborne, UAV, and ground-based sensing systems, coupled with AI-driven analytics, farmers and researchers can monitor crop health, optimize resource use, predict yields, and manage risks with unprecedented accuracy.
Presentation 2: Engineering into Existence
Synopsis:
Ts Vong shares his entrepreneurship journey in the assistive technology industry, highlighting how engineering innovation can be transformed into real-world solutions that empower lives in Malaysia. This session offers insights into the challenges and breakthroughs of building impactful technologies, aimed at inspiring students, lecturers, and industry practitioners alike. Attendees will be informed, motivated, and influenced to see engineering not just as problem-solving, but as a powerful tool to create meaningful change and shape a more inclusive future.
Presentation 3: Hardware-Validated Grid-Tied Integrated Energy Monitoring & Management System for Solar PV–BESS with EV Charging
Synopsis:
This work presents the system design integration and hardware validation of a Smart Energy Monitoring and Management System (SEMMS) integrating solar PV, battery energy storage (BESS), and an EV fast charger within a campus-scale testbed. The system employs Modbus TCP/IP, LabVIEW supervisory control, Python-based solar forecasting, and NI SystemLink with MQTT for remote dashboarding. An AI-driven advisory layer with Gemini API and Telegram alerts supports operators. The system integration work was led by staff and students of Ngee Ann Polytechnic as part of applied research and learning.
