Visit to the Lancashire & Yorkshire School of Signalling Layout at the National Railway Museum in York

This visit is a special opportunity to experience the role of a signaller in one of the signal boxes on this unique layout. The layout includes fully interlocked miniature lever frames, and full size block instruments. The principles of railway signalling (and in some locations, the equipment) are still relevant to the modern day railway. The layout will be used to re-enact and analyse the collision between two passenger trains caused by a combination of driver and signalman errors. A full size Lever frame simulator and a track circuit demonstration will also be available.
